Tom focuses on commercial disputes, financial and professional services litigation and construction matters. He is known for a disciplined and analytical approach, managing complex factual records and supporting the development of clear, practical litigation strategies. Clients and colleagues value his responsiveness, attention to detail, and steady, thoughtful approach to advancing matters.

Tom’s experience spans a broad range of civil and commercial disputes, including contract and tort claims, defamation, arbitration proceedings, professional negligence and property matters. He has worked on large scale, document intensive files involving multi-party disputes, and investment related claims. His work includes representing business owners in arbitration, assisting with long running class action litigation, and defending professional services firms in negligence claims and third-party production matters. He has also contributed to disputes involving financial institutions and investment entities, including claims relating to alleged mismanagement and misappropriation of assets.

Before joining Gudmundseth Mickelson, Tom practiced at a leading national business law firm, where he developed a strong foundation in dispute resolution across a range of industries, including accounting, financial services, forestry, gaming and construction. His experience includes contributing to strategy, evidence development, and legal analysis on matters involving significant financial and operational stakes.

During his legal education, Tom received numerous academic awards and distinctions, including a total of eleven scholarships, prizes, and other forms of recognition, reflecting consistent academic excellence across multiple areas of law.

Tom is currently the acting secretary of a drop-in centre in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and for the past two years he has volunteered with Access Pro Bono, providing free legal advice.
